Markdown to HTML · last updated October 16, 2026
The short version
Markdown to HTML does not collect, store, sell or share your personal data. Markdown is converted to HTML on your device, and nothing you convert is sent anywhere.
What the extension does with your text
You type or paste Markdown in the popup, or select text on a page and pick a context menu item. The extension turns it into HTML inside your browser. The result goes only where you put it: your clipboard, as HTML code or rich text, or an .html file you download. Text selected on a page is read only after your click and is not saved. The extension makes no network requests.
Permissions and why we need them
- activeTab — temporary access to the tab you are on, only after you pick a context menu item.
- scripting — runs the extension's own bundled script in that tab to read your selection.
- contextMenus — adds the right-click items Copy selection as HTML and Copy selection as rich text.
- clipboardWrite — copies the converted HTML or rich text when you press Copy or pick a menu item.
- storage — remembers your Markdown draft and the Styled HTML toggle in the browser's local storage on your device, so nothing is lost when the popup closes. The draft never leaves your device.
Our web pages
The welcome, uninstall and feedback pages on markdown-to-html.evasoft.pro use Rybbit, a privacy-friendly analytics tool we host ourselves. It counts visits without cookies and without personal data; it may keep an anonymous identifier in your browser's local storage. The extension itself contains no analytics.
If you answer the short survey on the uninstall or feedback page, your answer is saved in Google Forms. We do not ask for your name or email there.
Children
The extension is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect any data from anyone.
